U10s Prima Success at Leicester

Kick Off was set for 2.30pm prompt, on the pitch at Welford Road. Dedicated and focussed as always Southwold u10s travelled early and met at 12 noon for a warm up of Extra Spicy Peri-Peri Chicken and dynamic stretching in the alleyway outside Nandos. Bottomless fizzy drinks in rainbow colours fuelled the shopping trolley incident which shall remain on tour....
Inside the ground and on the pitch the boys were quick to take in their surroundings, which was the real prize of the day. Then, game heads on and ready for the first QF -v- Lichfield.
Southwold started strongly and did not take their foot off the pedal. Displaying confident front foot running rugby and also speed at the rucks it was soon evident Southwold were on top and would stay that way. A win for 'wold by a number of tries (scores are not recorded directly in the spirit of the tournament and RFU guidance).
QF2 saw Newmarket take on Shrewsbury and again the Eastern Counties side came out on top.
'Wold had met Newmarket at the Prima Cup Festival in Diss where Southwold were stronger. Could the boys repeat their performance in the Semi Final -v- Newmarket?
Absolutely. Southwold scored first and went on to score a number of tries during which time the whole squad were brought into play. Great to see Newmarket score a lovely try in the second half, however Southwold were dominant and ended up ahead by a number of tries.
Support for the boys was amazing and thanks to all Mums, Dads, Friends and Family who came along for an inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable day. During half time in the Racing 92 game we were on the pitch again to meet Joe Maksymiw, Michele Rizzo and Manu Tuilagi.
