Southwold Seagulls U10 side contested 4 tough pool games in which it conceded only 2 tries against a scoring tally of 26 to set up a cup final against Bury St Edmunds. Bearing in mind that the Southwold squad was made up of 9 players, all of whom played all of every game, this was no mean achievement, when most of the opposition had squads of more or some even had enough to put out 2 sides.
The pool results were as follows-:
Match 1 v Ipswich - 20-0 (Tries by Dylan, Renee(2) and Charlie)
Match 2 v Woodbridge 25-10 (Tries by Renee(2), Charlie(2), and Dylan)
Match 3 v Colchester 60-0 (Tries by Jade, Charlie(5), Renee(2), Jack(2) and Dylan(2))
Match 4 v Chelmsford 25-0 (Tries by Renee, Dylan, Charlie(2) and Jade)
The final was a tightly contested encounter between two determined sides, but ultimately the Seagulls proved dominant with a 20-10 win, in which Charlie scored 3 tries and James 1.
All in all an excellent first competitive outing of the season, and no doubt Bury will be looking forward to a return encounter next week-end!
