Both teams were in need of further pre-season training especially in set pieces, so we agreed with the Hadleigh coaches to change the usual format of the day. We started with our own club warm-ups and then we split all the forwards and backs so we could do some opposed scrums, lineouts and passing drills. This left enough time for a 40 minute match.
The first five minutes of the game were literally non-stop. Fortunately Luke scored a try giving everyone, including the ref, a short rest. There then followed a stream of well worked tries from Joe, Jon and Matt all of which were converted by Ben F. Though initially overwhelmed, Hadleigh came back strong and they ran in three tries to our two from Ben F and Brannan.
it was good to see some new players in our team. Liam and Morgan played in the pack and Tom played on the wing. All performed well and are welcome additions to this growing squad.
