Great rucking, great support, great hands, great leadership by birthday boy, James, - altogether another good day at the of office.

Tries: Konnor, Joe (3), Brannon, Tom, Jack FS and Josh. Conversions: Josh (3)

When Colchester scored from the kick-off exploiting an easy overlap, we feared the worse - but this was simply a wake-up call after the long journey. From that moment the wingers weren't sucked-in again and the opposition had no more no more overlaps - but we did.

A few minutes later after the initial shock, Konnor powered over their line after sustained pressure from our forwards. then a few minutes later Joe did the same for the first of his hat trick of tries. Game on. From that moment on, our forwards were completely dominant. Jack A and Konnor had some powerful runs and due to the support, retained possession helping us to put numerous phases together. Our increasingly formidable second row, Evan and Christian, joined the props in numerous buzz balls always making ground and always giving clean ball to the backs who gratefully ran in tries. Brannan backed himself (for a change) and ran round his mark to score our third try. Stan also had some impressive runs on the other wing and his defence was sound once he stayed out wide. Tom, who played fullback, had several great runs and one was rewarded with our fourth try. We went in at half time 22 - 10 up.

At halftime Joe suggested that the team could play better. He was correct. He lead the way in the second half with two No.8 pick-up tries in the first 5 minutes. He then went on to do the crunch tackle of the day sending an unfortunate Colchester player Hugo and Jack FS worked hard all day and Jack was rewarded with a try. Felix, who started at flanker and then moved to centre in the second half, was on fire all around the park. Josh showed his usual tenacity and his quick penalties always gained ground - even when the support was off the pace - because of his body position and driving legs. Apart from kicking three conversions and scoring our final try, he also delivered good quick ball to James who managed the backs very well and worked well with Matt who ran some sublime angles. Finally, a special mention to new boy Andrew who stepped-up and hooked against an experienced A-team counterpart.

Roll on the Suffolk Plate, who knows, we may meet the Colchester A team in the Trophy in the new year!
