As entertaining to watch as it was clearly satisfying to play in.

Having been beaten by Wymondham 74-0 at the beginning of the season this was our opportunity to make amends -or at least save face. Worryingly the boys didn't seem up for the game beforehand and the coaches feared the worse.

We won the toss and elected to play with the strong Southwold wind. From the outset it was clear that the boys WERE up for it after all. Our first run took us into the opposition half and consistent pressure and ball retention kept us there until we were rewarded with an early try from Billy. Game on.

Wymondham came back with force. But despite constant attacks from their big boys in both the pack and the centres they were repelled by strong tackling throughout the team. Notable tackles came from Ben S, Joe and Josh as usual but we were not just tackling we were driving them back too. Despite this committed defence we were unable to turnover ball - something the opposition managed several times during the match due to some excellent jackeling and on-the-shoulder support. This is not to say that our support play wasn't good - it just wasn't as immediate as there's on occasions. Something still to work on.

After more sustained pressure and despite some less than impressive handling in the backs, due to the windy conditions, Stan-the-man broke several tackles scrambled over the line for a well deserved solo effort. Josh duly converted with an excellent kick.

Going in to the break with an unanswered 12 point lead was definitely not expected. But we were under no illusions, they were not only going to come out fighting but they also now had the wind advantage. But we continued to dominate and only lack of immediate support stopped us scoring after first Stan then Jack C and finally Felix dashed for the line. Then, after placing himself in the centres on several phases, Joe finally broke through to score under the posts.

There followed an intense battle in the midfield with some fierce tackling on both sides until a lapse of concentration on our part allowed one of their players to break though and score virtually uncontested.
They followed this with another well worked try tight down the left touchline. Neither were converted so we were a clear goal ahead with 5 minutes to go and an ever-strengthening opposition. We held out.

Man of the match was Joe who was outstanding in both defence and attack. But credit must go to all in the pack who outplayed a very good Wymondham pack. Our front row combinations is now a match for anyone, our second row are as good as they get and we are spoilt for choice in the back row. Now as the season draws to a close, we just need to stay on each others shoulders and stop hanging-off/spectating at the breakdown.

Good job boys.
