Several Southwold Rugby 1st XVers significantly contributed to the team's success and back to back wins

Well over 1000 people enjoyed the annual Dardan Security rugby sevens at North Walsham RFC. The sevens which supports the Wooden Spoon charity was a real celebration of the values of rugby.

There were six teams in each of the three competitions: a Men’s Open; a Women’s Open; and a Men’s “Social”. The winners from both the Open competitions progress through to the RFU National competition.

Amongst the teams where the Dardanites, coached by our very own Seb Anthony (Director of Rugby ...and MD of Dardan Security!) and Kevin Cayley. The team included Southwold players Ollie Carlstroem, Will Debenham, Callum Anthony, Jake English and Matt Warren . Southwold Ladies also submitted a team for the first time filled with home grown young talent.

In the 3 competitions 53 games were played on 3 pitches for a total of 13 hours of rugby. It was excellent running rugby with 301 tries being scored in total but, for the Dardanites, the most important was the 301st which was the one that edged them ahead of the Vikings in the final moments of the Final and won them the Cup - for the second year running.

Cambridge University, who our girls nearly beat in the group stages, won the Ladies' Open competition.
