Although the score line suggests otherwise Thetford did battle hard till the end in this game and without Wold’s strong defensive display, Thetford would have scored more points.
Wold team saw some changes from other weeks and had more “wingers” in the team than usual, so both centres were blessed with speed. From the outset it was obvious that Wold would run at every opportunity, and with so many quick players this was easy to understand. Barton and Casbolt both made good breaks throughout the game, supported well by the pack at every breakdown.
Owles at flanker controlled the forward game and his direct running set up numerous attacks. Wells-Baker was a constant in the ruck and maul, hitting the tackles well. The line outs were effective and scrums solid throughout, a good display from all eight of the “piano pushers”. Mullen at scrum half did what is needed, control and direct the game and let the "piano players" attack.
The game saw 12 tries and 5 conversions, with Bliss converting from way out wide in one instance but then unfortunately missing the 2 attempts in front (think it was windy!)
