Bozenna travelled down to Guildford, Surrey for trials on Sunday 22nd January 2012. England Ladies’ Rugby Player, Maggie Alphonsi, watched on and was one of several assessors as the trialists were put through their paces in a variety of drills and games.
Bozenna will start training with the squad in the next few weeks in preparation for her first match against the South West team on 19th February 2012.
Following on from Bozenna Jackson’s successful trial for the U18 London and South East girls’ Rugby team, she has also been notified that she has been selected for the 2012 UK School Games.
The school games are much like the Olympic or Commonwealth Games, representative teams from the nations and regions of the UK will be selected, pitting the most talented young athletes against each other across the four day event at some of the Olympic and Paralympic venues, giving our nation’s school children the opportunity to really feel like they are part of the Olympic experience in 2012.
The 2012 School Games are taking place from the 6th-9th May and will be held in London at Barking RFC. The location of London is to link it into the Olympics and some of the events will be in the Olympic Park itself.
The Saint Felix schoolgirl will be representing the U18 London South East Divisional 7s Team. Within the rugby 7s competition there will be the 4 England Divisional Teams – South West, Midlands, London and South East and North - 2 Welsh teams and 2 Irish Teams competing to be UK School Games champions over 2 days of competition. Also at the Games will be 1200 athletes representing 12 other sports.
Throughout the 4 days Bozenna will be attending an opening ceremony, competing for 2 days and will then attend a closing ceremony. These games will be the final test event before the 2012 Olympic Games so it is a hugely exciting opportunity for everyone involved.
