A memorable victory for U16 against an old foe.

The smiles on the faces of the Wold boys at the end of the game said it all, they had beaten a North Walsham team for the first time and it contained three former wold players. The U16 have had an unlucky start to the season with long term injuries and once again call offs depleted the squad to 17. However more than once this team has let a little adversity motivate and this was no exception. The team had to start quickly and they did, they surprised NW by being quick to tackle and the scrumming was better than previous weeks. Wold took the lead as Joe powered over, NW equalised and it was 5-5 for awhile until Tristan intercepted a pass and ran the pitch to score, Jesse converted and it was 12-5, then NW cleared the ball by kicking it straight to George just inside his own half he caught it and ran it back through the defence to score between the posts. Jesse converted and at half time it was 19-5. The second half was harder NW came at wold strongly scoring two tries but importantly missing one of the conversions. Wold dug in and looked determined not to lose the lead, the scrum was working well and didn't give an inch, eventually the pressure from Wold told and Arthur powered over and Jesse converted, 26-17. NW scored one more try and it was converted but it was the last play and the whistle went, the boys obviously happy with all mighty grins on there faces. NW choose Jesse as the MOM and Jimmy was MOM from Southwold. It was a good day!!
