Last Sunday saw the visit from Stowmarket u16`s. We have not played them since an u14`s cup match at Stowmarket when they won. This match was completely different and despite a valiant defensive display from the visitors, Southwold ran out 50-7 winners.
Wold started the game strongly the forwards took control quickly and demonstrated how much they improved, Nathan scored the first try as he powered over and Jesse converted, 7-0. Next the backs joined in and Callum scored in the corner, no conversion this time 12-0, next Tristan broke away and scored between the posts, Jesse converted and its 19-0 and finally in the first half Harrison scored a good try as slipped between defenders, no conversion but half time was an impressive 24-0. The second half was very similar, Raife scored a quick try after the restart and Harrison got his second between the posts and suddenly its 38-0 and Wold are in complete control. Most of the play was in the Stowmarket half and this led to Sam scoring and then Sav scored in the corner. Jesse converted one of these and its 50-7. Credit to Stowmarket they did not give and pushed for a score and with the last play they went over and it was converted to give a final score 50-7. A fair score line which could have been higher if the ref had seen 4 held up tries differently.
Credit to the Wold forwards who had an immense game and credit to Stowmarket for not giving up.
