U16s win at Ipswich YM to remain undefeated in Plate.

On a slightly dark cold day in Ipswich, Wold U16s arrived in a confident mood, recent victories against Stowmarket and Woodbridge meant the boys were in the mood to seal there place at the top of the plate group. 19 players available for the game meant we had a strong starting line up and the boys were ready to play and play they did. From the first whistle the boys showed they meant business and scored first with Will going over, quickly followed by Callum, this one was converted by Jesse and Wold led 12-0, Ipswich were trying to kick defensively but a blustery wind did not help. James scored next and then lamps and after Jesse converted it was 24-0, still time for one more try before halftime scored by Callum, Jesse converted and it was 31-0 as the half ended. Wold had dominated the half with the forwards running and scrumming powerfully, the backs had been fast and skilful. They had not really allowed Ipswich to make it out of there own half and when they did the attacks were squashed quickly.

The second half started as the first had finished. Tristan quickly finishing a move between the posts and Jesse again converted, Another run down the line saw Callum score his third, Sam S was back today and he dived over to score the eighth try, Jesse scored the two points. A little period of attack from Ipswich followed as they tried to score some points but Wold were able repel these before Lamps and James scored tries and Jesse converted one more. Just before the whistle a strong attack from Ipswich saw them score a try but the conversion was missed. Final score 62-5, which to my recollection is the best score I have seen from this team. This result was due to the teamwork and support play from all of the team. There were some individual bits of skill which were amazing but they win as a team.

Credit t the coaches for way this team played, we might not get to train together too much but on game day the team is ready and motivated to perform.

Credit to Ipswich they did not give up, they played the game in the right way and were very sporting at the end. Also the bacon and sausage rolls were awesome. Good luck to them for the rest of the season.
We await more information on the finals day format. Each member of the squad played a full part today and should rightfully be proud of this result. Lets hope our injured lads are available for the rest of season and we finish youth with a bang.
