Match Result- Pre-season Friendly: Olney Touring Side 35 – 19 Southwold 1XV

Southwold 1XV travelled to Wymondham to face a touring Olney team on Saturday, 30th August. Olney finished 5th in the Regional 2 Midlands East last season, so this matchup was a brilliant test for Southwold as they prepare to push to finish above last season's 3rd place.

Olney showed their quality in the first half, building a 28–0 lead, but Wold hit back superbly after the break. Tries from Utting, Keeble, and Colman, plus two conversions from Wade, pulled us back to 28–19 before Olney finished strong to take it 35–19.

A fantastic contest played in the right spirit, and huge credit to Olney for bringing such a competitive touring side.

Huge credit to the players who stepped up after playing a full game (or close to it) for the 2XV before putting in another strong shift with the 1XV. An outstanding show of commitment and team spirit. Both Southwold teams showed exactly what our club is about: fight, togetherness, and respect for the game.
