Celebrating the New Year with a 10 try demolition

On a typically breezy day on The Common the girls unusually started with real intent and vigour right from the KO. Our pack was awesome and dominated both the scrums and in the loose with some powerful carries and decisive clear-outs. This gave our backs the space to spread their wings - especially Hollie who danced through for her hat-trick before halftime. Not to be outdone, the forwards had their share of the scoreboard with 3 tries from Courtney and one from the birthday girl, Robin. Courtney last played for Southwold when we played Crusaders at the beginning of the season where she was injured. Unfortunately her brief and impactful comeback is short-lived as she is off to Uni next week! Holly added to her first half tally and Annabel also joined the scoresheet with Abi converting 4 of our tries despite the breezy conditions!

The scoreline doesn't credit the effort and commitment of the Crusaders who gave 100% up till the final whistle. Our clean sheet was down to our line speed, coordinated defence and some huge hits. Everyone got stuck in and ensured our lines were rarely breached.

Our Player of the Match awards went to the birthday girl who unusually managed to hold down her pint, Courtney for her hat-trick and Maddie who was on fire today. Hollie's 4 tries clearly weren't enough to get her up there!
