Southwold Women continued their strong start to the season with a 12–38 victory away at local rivals Woodbridge on Sunday. With both sides fielding evolving squads and showing growing depth, it was a well-contested match that reflected the spirit of grassroots rugby.

Southwold started brightly, with Poppy (available to sponsor) crossing in the opening minutes, followed swiftly by Charlotte (available to sponsor), who found space to score her first of the day. Maisie (available to sponsor) added the extras to take an early 0–12 lead. Woodbridge responded with a well-earned try, showcasing their strength in the pack and determination in attack.

Despite pressure in the scrum, Southwold’s dominance in the lineout paid off. The forwards carried hard and laid the groundwork, with Josie (sponsored by Bespoke Scaffolding Services) and Courtney (available to sponsor) punching holes to make way for further scores from Elyse (sponsored by Road Runners Taxi) and a second for Charlotte, with Maisie converting both to give Wold a 5–24 advantage at the break - but not enough to be comfortable.

The second half saw Charlotte complete a hat-trick, before both sides were tested by injuries and tiring legs. Woodbridge capitalised with a second try, but Southwold’s defensive organisation—bolstered by a held-up try at a crucial moment by Elyse —held firm under repeated pressure.

In the final moments, Charlotte capped off a standout performance with her fourth try, sprinting from deep in Southwold territory to seal the win, converted once more by Maisie.

With two wins from two, the team continues to grow in confidence and cohesion, but still plenty to build on.
