To cap a fantastic weekend for Southwold Rugby

By Michaela Scarle

The Swallows put on a great show of heads up rugby resulting in scoring 10 tries against a side who never gave up.

Lakenham Hewitt never failed to compete and their game attitude is to be commended.

Swallows started well with a simple game plan showing they have good skills and passion to play as a team

The forwards dominated Lakenham’s pack, going forwards at every scrum.

Great running lines and excellent handling skills from the backs resulted in 4 tries from centre Jaz Wones who carved her way through her opposition, Jaye Ash who found space out wide and winger Alex McKay scoring her first try of the season. Chantelle Gallagher found space and scored 2 fantastic tries converting one of them. Second row, Michaela Scarle converting another just left of the posts .

Flanker Robin Williams showed the crowd how to score from a kick off scoring her first try showing off her speed and strength to get over the line even with no sleep after a long night shift!

After making a few changes , Bev Whyte scored in the corner from a fantastic number 8 pick up from Laura Marjoram.

Rob Scarle, the Swallow’s new coach was very pleased the result and with the recent progress made by the whole team which was evident on the pitch today.

Players of the match were Lucy Whayman and Sarah-Jane Carter.

The ladies next game is at home on Sunday 28th January against Bury with a 2pm Kick Off
