With a number of regular players unavailable and a lot of new players in new positions.Southwold struggled to contain Fakenham's attacks and too often conceded penalties from their poor defence.
After conceding two tries and a number of penalties, Southwold started to regain some of their composure.Southwold however, found it very difficult to gain the territory required and played the rugby in Fakenhams’s half. Even with the lack of personnel, Southwold didn’t give up, attacking down the right touchline again. Ball in hand, Chantelle Savage showed her strength and power to power herself over in the corner with two further defenders failing to stop her.
After the interval, Southwold was hoping to build on the strong finish of the first half, but alas it wasn’t to be. Fakenham scored two early tries following some weak tackling.
Scrum-half Libby Whiting going forwards doing her best to kick into space behind the defensive line for Southwold to chase. A number of times the kicks nearly came off with a score, Donna Cooper was within a metre after one such chase. In any case valuable territory was gained. Finally, Emily Biddle was rewarded for her efforts and she created two tries, one from a quickly tapped penalty and another ripping the ball from a Fakenham back to score under the posts, scoring both of them herself. Finally score 44-17. A extremely disappointing result, with complacency getting the better of all players.
