Southwold traveled up North in artic conditions, freezing cold rain - turning to snow. Because of the slippery and damp conditions the penalties and handling mistakes came frequently from both sides. Southwold looked the more threatening, preferring to keep the ball in hand despite the mud, running and handing off with some success. When Leighton Buzzard did get clean ball they preferred to kick. This was a flawed strategy as it increased Southwold's possession and gave them repeated opportunities to attack so play stayed in the Leighton Buzzard's end for most of the first half. Two tries came from clean breaks from fly half Emily Biddle who ran the ball until 5 metre line where a swift pass to winger Harriet Cox.
The final try, from a tough fought maul saw Michaela Scarle power over the tryline.
Due to the artic, freezing conditions the game stop 10 minutes into the second half.
Final Score Leighton Buzzard 0 - Southwold 15
Man of the match: the whole team.... we celebtrated with a nice warm cup of tea and a hot shower.
With a touch of hyperthermia I think both teams played remarkably well, well done girls!
