Southwold Swallows first game of the season, Southwold Swallows remain in RFUW South East North 2. Away to Rushden Highman the Swallows kitted out with just 15 players, giving opportunity to new and experienced players to try out different positions. The first quarter was played at a fast pace, with vice captain Amy Gregor scoring four tries in the first half. With the return of wet weather meant that the fast pace was easier to sustain, this led to Stephanie Cotton gaining composure and slotting in a few tries, most notably a promptly taken line out by Gillian Morris put Rushden Ladies on the back foot, and a series of quick hands lead to a clinical looking try. A few well driven mauls by the forwards and some crafty back work saw The Swallows dominating for most of the game.
Second half, Southwold still not content with their 20-5 lead, and the backs having a good afternoon of scoring.
The score line bodes well for Swallows for the start of the season. Credit is due to Rushden Ladies for keeping up the pressure, making Swallows work for their win throughout. Full Score 52-5
