Woodbridge came out sharp in the opening exchanges, crossing for two early tries before our lads settled into their rhythm. Percy got the BullSharks on the scoreboard with a great finish, but a clinical Woodbridge attack pushed ahead, leaving the score at 5–19 at the half-time break, with the visitors briefly down to 14 after a series of repeated infringements.
The second half, however, was a completely different affair. The BullSharks showed immense heart, grit, and skill, taking control of the tempo and playing some of our best rugby of the season so far. Morgan and Beau both crossed the line for two brilliant team tries, both cleanly converted by Percy. Woodbridge managed to add one more converted try of their own, but the second half undoubtedly belonged to our boys in terms of momentum and cohesion.
A special mention must go to our back row—Oscar, Buddy, and Casey—who put in a huge shift at the breakdown today, securing vital ball and putting in relentless, on-point tackles throughout the entire match! ?
As the physical intensity stepped up in the second half and the match reached its climax, the BullSharks deserve enormous credit for maintaining their focus. The lads held their heads high, showing complete composure, discipline, and true sportsmanship right through to the final whistle.
A huge congratulations to Percy, who was rightly awarded Player of the Match for a brilliant performance both in open play and off the kicking tee! ??
While the final score didn't quite go our way today, the growth in this combined team is clear for everyone on the touchline to see. We can all see the makings of a truly fantastic squad, with every single player representing Southwold and Beccles with absolute pride.
Thank you to Woodbridge for traveling down to the coast for such a spirited match, and to all our parents and supporters for your brilliant encouragement today.
Next week, we are home at Beccles to host Mistley! Onwards and upwards!
