The game got off to our normal slow start with Southwold conceding a try in the first 5 minutes. But we soon got going and a great display of pressure from the forwards in Wymondhams half gave Phillip an opportunity to produced a try and level the score. Both sides played some open rugby but Wymondham dominated the scrum, when given the opportunity we moved the ball along the line and gave Hamish a run and he crashed through to take us into the lead with Charlie converting. Wymondhams work at the scrum payed off and they took the opportunity to pop in a try when we were least expecting it. On the stroke of half time after some good rucking from the forwards James made a penetrating run down the right wing to take us into half time 17 : 10.
The second half was played at as fast a pace as the first, both teams fort hard for position, the line outs proved difficult for both teams with the stiff wind and Wymondhams work in the scrum kept Southwold having to fight to retain ball. The game ebbed and flowed but Hamish broke away and produced a penetrating run through one tackle before another brought him down but not before he was able to off load the ball to Callum A who had stayed on his shoulder and who then ran on to score an excellent try. The pace of the game was beginning to affect both teams and with 5 minutes to go Hamish again after some great work from the team made another run he avoided 2 tackles but the third took him down, he got straight up and powered through to score under the post's, which was then converted by Charlie. Wymondham came straight back at us and looked certain to score but a great tackle on the line forced a line out which was kicked into touch to end a great game.
