The game got off to a good start with James crashing over to score an early try which was converted by Charlie. Lowestoft soon perked up and started applying some pressure, but Olly caught the ball in his own half and made an incredible run the whole length of the pitch to score a second which Charlie converted. The game then settled into a bit of a scrum fest which was fairly evenly matched. But some quick ball along the line gave Hamish a run down the wing to put us 3 tries and conversions ahead.
We then entered a period where we were being caught offside and slow to the ruck which suddenly gave Lowestoft the opportunity to strike and they did to great effect and scored two tries in a matter of minutes. Half time gave us the opportunity to get our heads together and we started the second half with Callum Easton scoring a well deserved try after making a strong run down the wing. Our forwards were still slow to the ball which held us back at times but Charlie made what he could of opportunities and found a way through to score after some strong defence work from the opposition.
Lowestoft came straight back at us and caught us napping from a penalty to give them their third try. The Southwold forwards kept pushing forward and Naill stopped a kick from going out to then run from one side of the pitch to the other to score a great individual try. We continued to press forward and Charlie made a run down the left wing supported by Hamish Charlie drew two players in and made a well timed pass to Hamish for him to run on to score.
This was a good performance from the boys after a few weeks off but there are still a few things to work on.
