Clinical display from whole team gives Southwold 72 : 5 victory over Stowmarket.

The boys were up for a big game this week as they needed to stay warm in the bitterly cold wind. They got off to a great start with Luke making a great run to pop the first try over. There followed some impressive work from the forwards against a big pack, in the Scrum we fort for every chance of the ball and our backs moved it around well. A number of trys came in quick succession from James, Hamish, Archie Winter, Zac and Tom. Charlie kicked well in difficult conditions and we went into half time with the score at 55: 5.
The second half saw just as much commitment from the boys and again trys followed from good forward work and some excellent work from our backs moving the ball along the line at pace. James made a penetrating run and almost scored but a excellent tackle stopped him inches from the line. But good team work quickly gave him the opportunity to score a well deserved second try. Archie Winter ran into space and made a blistering run to score a second also. Further trys came from Hamish, Archie, Owen and Charlie, with Charlie converting a number to give us a 72: 5 victory. The game was played in excellent spirit Stowmarket were worthy opponents who just couldn’t break through our defence but there work rate was outstanding.
Special mention need to go to Zac who scored his first try for the team picking up from the ruck to power through to the try line, a great effort.
