“We must learn to play as a team and have confidence in each other"

Ipswich looked sharp, and attacked with ferocity from the kick off. Southwold resisted the pressure well initially, but then conceded a runaway try 10 minutes into the first half. 6 minutes later, the visitors scored again. This time with a crashing forwards try. Southwold fought back, making several impressive individual runs, all of which were snuffed out. Eventually after being camped in the visitors half for several phases of play, Southwold was able to turn the pressure into points, when Scrum Half Sam Garrington scored to the left of the posts.
Southwold started slowly in the second half, and conceded a try after only 1 minute and second 6 minutes later. It looked as if the visitor were gaining the upper hand and would run away with the game. Southwold dug deep and seemed to turn the pressure around, and for the rest of the game had most of the possession and territorial advantage. Unfortunately due to lack of team play, Southwold were unable to turn the advantage into points. When Southwold moved the ball through hands they looked dangerous, but these moments were rare.
Assistant coach Sean Cashman said, “we must learn to play as a team and have confidence in each other. Our forwards strong, and dominated the scrums and line outs, but we never used that advantage.”
Players of the match were Sam Garrington for Southwold, and Ipswich’s number 8.
