Southwold RFC is proud to support long-standing club friend Peter Ewart and his son Henry, who this weekend are taking on the incredible challenge of the Round Britain Reliability Run – driving 2,000 miles around the UK in just 48 hours, all in aid of Parkinson’s UK.

Peter has been a dedicated supporter of the club for many years, and his son Henry is a true Wold player, having worn the black and gold from Minis through Youth and Colts, and now in Senior rugby. Together, they’ll be representing not just their family but also the spirit of determination that defines rugby.

A Challenge with Purpose

This remarkable journey is not just about endurance behind the wheel. The Ewart family has felt the impact of Parkinson’s disease personally, having lost a loved one to this life-shortening illness. Their mission is clear: raise vital funds for research that could one day prolong life, improve treatment, or even lead to a cure.

“Many people know a friend or family member who has been diagnosed,” Peter explained. “You’ll know how debilitating Parkinson’s can be. That’s why we feel this is a challenge worth fighting for.”

Meet Dexter – the 1959 Triumph TR3A

Their vehicle of choice is no ordinary car. Affectionately nicknamed Dexter, the family’s beautifully restored 1959 British Racing Green Triumph TR3A will be pushed to its limits. The event, organised by Club Triumph, will see drivers set off from Knebworth in Hertfordshire at 6pm on Friday 3rd October, head north to John O’Groats, cut across to Land’s End, and return to Knebworth in time for Sunday tea, all without stopping for proper rest.

With Henry stepping in for his older brother Louis, the pair face not only the distance but also fatigue, unpredictable weather, and the challenge of keeping Dexter on the road throughout.

How to Support

The Ewarts are aiming to raise £2 for every mile completed – a target of £4,000 in total. All funds go directly to Parkinson’s UK, supporting crucial research and care.

Peter and Henry have promised to share a no-holds-barred account of their adventure with donors, documenting the highs, lows, and inevitable “what on earth are we doing” moments.
